Name: Erik Lane

Position: Head Coach

Bio: Coach Erik Lane just completed his second season as the women’s heqad coach at Captain Shreve. This was his 30th year coaching high school soccer.  Coach Lane now carries an overall record of 604 – 189 – 118 as a high school head coach.  His teams have qualified for the play-offs in 26 of his 30 seasons winning 12 district championships (including the 2020-2021 season), 5 regional championships and have been state runner-up three times.
He has coached at
Captain Shreve HS (46-13-4),
Langham Creek HS (TX) 93 – 41 – 27,
Brenham HS (TX) 323 – 56 – 55
and Spring HS (TX) 142 – 79 – 32. 

He also coached the men’s team at the University of Houston for two years going 10 – 6 – 4 in conference play and qualifying for the conference tournament both years.  

Coach Lane has a B.S. in Physical Education from Southern Utah University and a M.ED in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.  He has taught elementary and high school physical education, world geography, world history, government and economics. He will be teaching social studies at Captain Shreve. 

He holds the NSCAA Premier and Advanced National diplomas and the USSF ‘B’ and Youth National licenses.  He worked with South Texas ODP and trained select teams throughout the Houston area from the 1980’s until 2017 after a long stretch with the Texans Soccer Club. 1n 2020, Coach Lane returned to the club scene with Cabosa’s Shreveport United where he coaches the 06 Blue boys team. 

He is also a past president of the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches (TASCO) and was inducted into the TASCO Hall of Honor in 2011.  

Coach Lane is married to Jennifer (TAMU ’89), who is a former high school teacher, coach and counselor.  The entire Lane family is looking forward to an exciting season!
