Head Coach
Coach Erik Lane will be entering his 4th season at Captain Shreve in 2022-2023 and his 32nd season as a high school head coach. The Lady Gators went 26 – 3 – 3 last year, won three tournament championships and advanced to the third round (quarterfinals) of the LHSAA play-offs. Coach Lane has gone 67 – 16 – 7 in three seasons at The Swamp and carries an overall record of 630 – 192 – 121 as a high school head coach. His teams have qualified for the play-offs in 27 of his 31 seasons winning 12 district championships, 5 regional championships and have been state runner-up three times. He has coached at Langham Creek HS (TX) 93 – 41 – 27, Brenham HS (TX) 323 – 56 – 55 and Spring HS (TX) 142 – 79 – 32. He also coached the men’s team at the University of Houston for two years going 10 – 6 – 4 in conference play and qualifying for the conference semi-finals both years.
Coach Lane has a B.S. in Physical Education from Southern Utah University and a M.ED in Educational Leadership from Lamar University. He has taught elementary, high school and college level physical education, and world geography, world history, US history, government and economics at the high school level. He currently teaches World Geography and World History at Captain Shreve.
He holds the NSCAA Premier and Advanced National diplomas and the USSF ‘B’ and Youth National licenses. He worked with South Texas ODP and trained select teams throughout the Houston area from the 1980’s until retiring from club coaching in 2017 after a long stretch with the Texans Soccer Club. He has also worked with Cabosa/Shreveport United.
Coach Lane is also a past president of the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches (TASCO) and was inducted into the TASCO Hall of Honor in 2011.
Coach Lane is married to Jennifer (TAMU ’89), who is a retired high school coach, teacher and counselor in Texas. The entire Lane family is looking forward to an exciting 2022-2023 season!
